About me
I move with intention in life and in Pilates
My training & qualifications
In early 2023, I completed my Comprehensive Training through Polestar Pilates. Drawn to the program for its rigor, its close relationship with physical therapy (founded by physical therapist Brent Anderson), and its proven ability to rehabilitate people after injury and illness, my training enables me to help my clients gain strength, awareness, mobility, flexibility, and even courage. My teaching is informed by the latest scientific and medical understanding of biomechanics, neuro-linguistic cueing, and the use of imagery for creating effective movement.

About me: human & business owner
I live with intermittent chronic pain and disability. It shapes my approach to my business, and it shapes how I move through life. I am always listening for a positive maybe or a clear yes from my body and my nervous system to guide most decisions I make in my life, from the mundane to the profound. This enables me to live more at peace with a body that has needs that are at times at direct odds with what the external world requires or encourages.
After a debilitating back injury at the age of 25, Pilates became a central piece of my physical and emotional healing practice. Combined with running, it radically changed my relationship to my body: my body exists to do not just to be viewed. Pilates has been a catalyst in my life for learning to appreciate what my body can do and to appreciate the fact that my body exists, rather than to appreciate it only for how it looks and how much (or how little) space it takes up.
Formerly a burned out tech worker, I became a Pilates teacher for my own health and well-being, but also so that I might facilitate for my clients the type of growth, awareness, and embodiment that I enjoy as a result of a regular Pilates practice.
As a small business owner, it has been critical for me to make business decisions that support my well-being, trusting that if I build a business that can truly support my needs, I will be better able to support my clients, community, and loved ones. I am committed to slow growth because it defies the capitalist directive to grow as rapidly and as perpetually as possible, which is extractive, ableist, perfectionistic, and unsustainable. Instead, I uplift and invest in sustainability, reciprocity, and abundance.
In addition to Pilates and movement, some other things I also get excited about, in no particular order:
Singing, improv, and table-top role-playing games
Soaking up some sunshine by Lake Merritt
Poetry and reading
Astrology
Motorcycles
Sewing clothes
Hiking and camping
Being in a constant state of learning and unlearning
Anti-capitalist and anti-racist existence and community building
